mdfy, by Ollins privacy policy

Effective 21 September 2026 · Version 1.10

Your documents

mdfy, by Ollins processes Markdown files locally in your browser. It does not upload, collect, sell, or share document content, filenames, browsing history, or local file paths. It does not use analytics, advertising, or remote crash reporting.

Preferences and fonts

Appearance settings are saved in local Chrome extension storage. Downloaded font files are saved in an extension-owned local database. They are not synchronized to an account by mdfy, by Ollins. Settings remain until you reset them or uninstall the extension. You can export a settings backup and remove unused fonts in Settings.

Optional network requests

When you choose to download a Google Font, mdfy, by Ollins requests font information from fonts.googleapis.com and font files from fonts.gstatic.com. Google receives ordinary network information, such as your IP address and user agent, and the requested font. mdfy, by Ollins never includes document text or local paths in these requests. Cached fonts can be used offline.

Remote images in documents are blocked initially. If you choose to load them for a tab, the image hosts receive network requests. Clicking an external link navigates to that destination. Those services apply their own privacy policies.

Permissions

Local file access allows automatic rendering of Markdown files you open in Chrome. Chrome requires you to enable “Allow access to file URLs.” mdfy, by Ollins checks the filename before inspecting content and does not scan folders. Storage saves preferences; scripting loads the reader and diagram renderer on supported local Markdown pages. Optional Google Fonts permissions support font downloads.
